Pearl HarborPearl Harbor is a classic tale of romance set during a war that complicates everything. It all starts when childhood friends Rafe and Danny become Army Air Corps pilots and meet Evelyn, a Navy nurse. Rafe falls head over heels and next thing you know Evelyn and Rafe are hooking up. Then Rafe volunteers to go fight in Britain and Evelyn and Danny get transferred to Pearl Harbor. While Rafe is off fighting everything gets completely whack and next thing you know everybody is in the middle of an air raid we now know as "Pearl Harbor."
The movie is based around a romance while a terrible event is going on, similar to Titanic. And even if this movie was a romance, it did play the whole event of the Japanese attacking the harbor very well and it most definitely got my attention. Even so, I'm pretty sure the media didn't tell people about a love complex while this was going on. I think that the movie did a very good job at making all the big parts of Pearl Harbor happen and it was more interesting than the Tora! Tora! Tora! movie. It seems that the only difference with this is what I stated before where no one actually told of a crazy love triangle with the Japanese were attacking. I'm not sure if there were actually star crossed lovers out there while this was going on but at the moment of the attack, that really doesn't matter. |

Most people believe the Exorcist to be a piece of creative fiction by someone’s wild imagination but to the common knowledge of the public these events of pure and desolate horror actually have roots in reality, this is the breakdown of The Exorcist. The movie of The Exorcist is a bit fleshed out of its real world roots but it still manages to hold up to its predecessor’s tale. The Exorcist was based on a 1971 novel with the same name written by the author William Peter Blatty who was deeply inspired to create his piece on the exorcism case of Roland Doe (A pseudonym given to the victim by the church). Most of Does cases were recorded into a diary that was held by the attending priest by the name of Fr. Raymond Bishop and contain details on his possession and exorcism cases. An anonymous reporter for the newspaper had shed light on these events for the public and was very later found out to be Doe’s family former pastor, Reverend Luther Miles Schulze. Thomas B. Allen then wrote a novel shortly a book after the case “Possessed” which was based on Bishop’s diary of Doe’s exorcism and Fr. Walter Halloran’s testimony who was the last living eyewitnesses who participated in the exorcisms. Doe was born in 1936 in circa and belonged to a German Lutheran Christian family; they lived in a cottage city located in Maryland in the 1940’s. Rolland was an only child and was very close with his aunt Harriet. The woman had introduced a Ouija board to the young boy. When Harriet died in St. Louis many believed that he had tried to contact her through an Ouija board. Rolland’s possession was first seen in 1949 shortly after Harriet’s death, strange noises were recorded throughout the Doe house. Furniture was seen moving and objects levitating. later a container of holy water smashed and broke on the floor according to reverend Schulze and the boy was sent for several medical screenings but nothing came up to the doctors, Reverend Schulze then Arranged Rolland to stay at his home for observation. That night Schulze heard violent shaking sounds coming from his room and scratching on the walls and an armchair was reported to move on its own and blankets moved on their own. Schulze then came to the conclusion that the evil was at hand and issued for Rolland to receive a Lutheran rite of exorcism. A reverend Edward Hughes was present for the exorcism of Rolland at George Town university hospital, Rolland attacked Hughes and Hughes required stiches. Throughout the exorcisms Rolland then developed welts around his body. One of Rolland’s cousins then contacted one of his old professors Rev. Raymond J. Bishop who also brought with him Rev. William S. Bowdern. Both of the priests witnessed the malevolent activities such as floating furniture and Rolland’s voice changing into some guttural tone. Bowdern made a request to keep the exorcisms in secret leaving only eyewitnesses and the diary to hold information. While Bowdern was working with Rolland he was assisted by Father Walter Halloran. In Halloran’s reports it says several words such as “hell” and “evil” appeared on Roland’s skin, the boy even managed to break Halloran’s nose. The exorcisms were preformed over 30 times in several weeks. After the final exorcism the Doe family was able to move back into their house and no longer had any hauntings, Rolland grew older to become a married man, a father, and a grandfather. Nine priests and thirty-nine eye witnesses signed the final ecclesiastical papers disclaiming Roland’s experience and with Halloran, Bowdern, and Bishop all going on record the Rolland’s case was that of actual possession. |
