The Real Robin Hood:
The famous outlaw, Robin Hood, was a hero in English folklore. He was a highly skilled archer and swordsman. He's also known for 'stealing from the rich, and giving to the poor' with his Merry Men in green by his side, but this kind of selfless behavior was not part of the original character.
This legend was founded during the medieval period, and it continues through books, TV, and film. Hoody was known as an aristocrat that was wrongfully getting his land taken away by a mean sheriff, which drove him to becoming an outlaw. The first clear reference to "rhymes of Robin Hood" is from the late-14th-century poem Piers Plowman, but the earliest surviving copies of the writings that tell his story dates to the 15th century. The early stories link Robin Hood to some actual places and many are convinced that he was a real person. A number of theories of "the real Robin Hood" have their supporters. Some of these theories say that "Robin Hood" or "Robert Hood" or the like was his actual name, while others suggest that this may have been merely a nickname disguising a medieval bandit possibly known to history under another name. But at the same time, Robin hood could also be just a fake character that was made up to be a children's tale. Many people, like myself, still don't even know and just enjoy the movies because of how fun and adventurous they are. |
Disney's Robin Hood:
In The Disney version of Robin Hood, it tells a tale of an animal kingdom where each character is a certain animal. Robin Hood being the fox, his pal Little John as a big ol' bear, Maid Marian as a vixen, Prince John as a lion and many more. (I really didn't need to explain that to you if you've already seen the movie or if you just moved you eyes to the right a tad you can see that picture over there)
It basically tells the same story of Robin Hood, "taking form the rich and giving to the poor", but with a classic Disney twist. This one just had to be with humanoid animals. In this movie, King Richard has gone on his crusade and left his brother Prince John to watch over the kingdom. The prince is super greedy and taxes all the town's people until they have no money left. But Robin Hood is there to save the day with his buddy old pal Little John. The two outlaws disguise themselves as women and even a completely different animal to give the people their money back and stop the sheriff and Prince John from taking the villager's land, and also to be with Maid Marian. Such Romance! I love just about all Disney movies (except Bolt) and this one was really good, even though it's was just the same as any other Hoody tale. |
